Thanks to Joe Pease I find another of my shots on the cover of Australia’s SLAM magazine.
Joe also has a full interview inside that I shot. Down Under is Comin Up.

Should be ripping fun.

NIKE SB CUSTOM SERIES

February 27, 2009

1

I got images of the latest Nike SB campaign shot by Mr Jon Humphries in my inbox today. Here’s what he has to say about the Custom Series project, scroll down and click to see the ads larger, the Justin Brock truck one is awesome…

There’s always been something about skating on cars that has fascinated me. Maybe it’s from watching 80’s skate videos when I was a kid. It seemed like there was always a car involved, whether it was Gonz doing a 50-50 on the roof of a car at the Savannah Slamma contest or Lance doing a boneless out of the back of a delivery truck in Future Primitive.

The 3rd Volume of the Nike SB Custom Series features SB Amateurs Daryl Angel, Clark Hassler, Justin Brock and Grant Taylor. I came up with a specific car for each guy knowing this would be the perfect group to push the boundaries of skateboarding on cars. Each car reflects not just the different colors and ideas incorporated into their shoes but how they skate as well.

The Custom Series has become an important aspect of Nike SB’s history. Not only do the riders get to color and skate in any SB shoe they want, we get the opportunity to take a new approach to skateboard photography. Have a look at Volume 3 of the Nike SB Custom Series.”

Giant Robot x Shin Tanaka Paper Robot Contest

February 27, 2009

giantrobotshin

Hi there readers. What is this image? It’s an open contest. It seems like it might be a tough one, but really all you have to do is submit a color way for the leg robot. Which is the bottom part. The submissions are cruising along, but at the moment, you have a high submission to win (there are prizes in the continue) ratio and it’s due March 6. Which is coming up.

Here’s the pertinent info you’ll need to get this going.

1. Download the blank template.
2. Customize the template with your own designs — draw, paint, use photoshop — be creative!
3. Scan or color copy your customized template and save it to upload later.
4. Construct your figure and take a photo of the completed piece.
5. By March 6, upload your scanned template and image of the completed figure using the link below.
6. Upload.
7. Winners will be announced on the site by March 11th.

Found Magic!

February 27, 2009

1jerry1

Yesterday i went to my old house to clean up some dark room equipment i’ve  had stored  there in the garage since last year.  Among the dusty  boxes of  half exposed boxes of  photo paper and  trash i found two things i wasn’t expecting to find. The first was my  very first T4 camera. Its the old one with  the super scope!  Im not sure why it was there with film in it on shot number one? The second thing i found was part of the trash or what i thought was trash at the time? These photos of  Jerry Hsu were stuck together in a dried clump of unwashed throwaways  from the last time i printed photos in the garage which was 2 or 3 years ago? when i pulled the pieces apart i found these four different images.
