I’ve doing a bit of organizing lately, mostly through a pile of boxes in my basement. In the process I came across one of my favorite paintings that I’ve ever done, one of my first figurative pieces. I thought I’d lost it somewhere over the years. I’d always kept it NFS as it’s of one of my best friends from growing up, Heather. I’m so stoked it turned up!

After six months, I finally updated my portfolio blog the other day with some of the things that I’ve worked on in the past half year. I’m currently finishing up projects with and for Furni, Lifetime, Livestock, Threadless, and Nike and am accepting new assignments for the second half of 2009. Holler at me if you’ve got a project I might fit into.

AND PS: THAT’S OBVIOUSLY NOT MY TYPEFACE. NATAS DID IT FOR ME AND I’VE GIVEN IT SOME SERIOUS MILEAGE.
Another from the files. Here he is. The environmental role model for all. He stands tall perched from his patio gazing off into the great mountains. That day he even chose the appropriate attire. Note the environmentally conscious back patch.

The Skater of the Year issue is out starring Silas Baxter-Neal, the first red-headed and hyphenated SOTY in the history of ‘boardin.’ Congratulations, Silas.
During the final “crunch” week for this issue, I spent a couple good days fielding calls from alternately outraged and overjoyed people who had heard the news that my boss, Jake Phelps, had been fired – a myth spread, for reasons known only to him, by Jake himself. Lance Mountain even heard that Jake had died. There’s something slightly disheartening about running around crazy, trying to get a big project done, while your boss is spending his day crying wolf on the World Wide Web. Regardless, pretty good issue. There’s a fun Marc Johnson interview, a Tony Hawk handplant feature, which I bet nobody saw coming, as well as the T-Eddy Awards and that article where Jake traces the source material of all the hand-drawn pictures sent to us by children and/or the incarcerated. I give this mag a B+, easily.
