What better way then to start off my inaugural post with a wonderful blurb about this non-profit charity art auction called Stoked Sessions. (…and from the looks of it, probably the biggest flyer picture ever.)
Stoked Mentoring is a non-profit organization in which they provide skateboards, surfboards and snowboards to underprivileged kids possibly in the inner-city, who in normal situations might not be able to try these activities. Read more on it here: STOKED.ORG
So they are doing a fundraiser to generate some income to keep this program going. They have tons of wonderful art contributors all in unison to help out the cause. Read more info on Stoked Sessions 2009

La Noche de la Fusion, Gary Baseman’s latest solo show, opens this Saturday, May 2nd at Corey Helford Gallery. Be sure to save the date to attend this one-of-a-kind celebration, as it ensures to be a night like no other . . . this isn’t just a regular art show reception. It’s a celebration, a ceremony, a unique experience.
La Noche de la Fusion’s debut will feature women in Baseman-inspired Carnivale costumes, live music, Baseman characters coming to life, and a sacrificial ceremony during the opening reception. The artist “guarantees you’ve never seen anything like this.” Or maybe you have…the influences for this show can be found the world over, inspired by Baseman’s round-the-world travels in 2008 and 2009.
It’s a night of fusing and melting cultures, of blurring lines of reality, of melting the walls and forces that hold one back, it’s La Noche de la Fusion!

well hello there! im mentioning this a little late, maybe near a year late at this point, but thats how i roll i guess. Jai Tanju has been making zines and little art books for a while now, you may or may not know about his MUTE series of books, its a collection of photos taken by his friends.MUTE #2, 116 pages, 8.5″ x 8.5″, perfect binding, full-color interior ink, compiled by Jai Tanju, photographs by erik olsen, chris patton, ken nagahara, louie barletta,sam milianta,luda crooks, b. fonville. jonathan hay, matt price and he axed me to give him some photos as well, i think i got 20 some odd pages in it. just dumb photos of my friends doing the dumb stuff we do day in and day out.
