The Skateboard Film Festival ’09 Update

POSTED May 29, 2009 BY Eric Burgess

Something magical is going to happen for skateboarding this August 14th-16th in Seattle, WA. Skateboarding will get it’s own Film Festival (which anyone can take part in) with a specific mission to enable, nurture, promote and encourage the next generation of skateboard filmmakers to inspire, lead and entertain the world with their stories and creativity.

Quite simply, it’s intended for the Pat O’Dell’s, Spike Jonze’s, and Ty Evans’ of tomorrow. Oh, they’re out there. They just haven’t been found yet. So, why not give them a platform to showcase their work in front of a live audience?

That’s what we intend to do. The Skateboard Film Festival is open to all:  big producers or the kid next door with a skateboard and a video camera.

The festival will screen some 40-60 films from several different categories and countries over the festival weekend. SIFF Cinema, a state of the art digital theater located in Seattle’s ‘Seattle Center’ will play host to all of the screenings.

The Call for Entries is still open through June 15th. We are especially seeking Sponsor-Me and Shop submissions at this time. For more information, check out:  The Skateboard Film Festival.

You can also keep up-to-date here and here.

See you in August!
