CROWNFARMER WEEK 1 – TODD BRATRUD

September 28, 2009

After a nearly 2 year hiatus it is with great pleasure that I re-introduce my t-shirt brand, Crownfarmer! From now until forever it will be holding hands with Club Mumble to bring you a t-shirt designed by a member in good standing along with a quick interview with them.

Week 1 is a design by longtime Mumbler, Todd Bratrud! Click HERE to grab one of his tees or continue reading to learn a little more about Todd and what he does…

What was the first design you ever got paid for?
it was my first ever board graphic for Consolidated Skateboards, a monkey wrench covered in blood. i wasnt paid in cash money, so i dunno if this answer still counts as “paid” the way you are asking. i was given 4 boards, which isnt shit, but at the same time, just to have done a board graphic for me was worth more than any amount of money.

What was the last design you got paid for?
A set of 2 graphics for Sean Malto on Girl. the graphics are in relation to his biker gang, “The Read more

Hi Toronto, it’s me, SOYB

September 26, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out for the opening last night for Smile On Your Brother in Toronto! Good times, and the coldest beer ever courtesy of Coors Light. Has anyone seen the labels that they have with the mountains change color to let you know when beer is ripe for the drinking? Beer science, who knew? But, I definitely approve.

Anyways, a big thank you to Gardenia Flores, Michelle Williams, Niall McClelland, Jeremy R. Jansen and the kind folks at Livestock who helped set up. Niall and Jer even posted some photos from the morning session on their Seer Editions blog (clickity click here).

More photos from the actual night coming up real soon.

Oh, and finally this…Push.ca put up a real nice interview of us and the project which you can read right here. If you’re also a photographer on the come up, make sure you check out their First Photos contest.

This is Not Mark Whiteley’s New Book

September 25, 2009

mwsfshow

Captain of the SLAP ship and Daniel Gesmer impersonator, Mark Whiteley has a book coming out of Ginko Press this October. A man of many talents and adventures, Mark has photographed a variety of people and things and this book highlights the best of his best. Like GZA on one page, Scott Bourne getting tattooed on another, and Jerry Hsu in a funny hat. Images of Tokyo and the American heartland, Ray Barbee recording guitar tracks in a hotel bathroom and Jason Jessee being Jason Jessee. Get it when it comes out, your eyes and mind will thank you for it.

Pete Oswald

September 25, 2009

Pete Oswald is a great artist and character designer I met a few years ago when I lived in LA.
Since collaborating with him on a Red Bull project, his skill at designing and molding characters has grown in leaps and bounds.
Most recently he was a part of the crew to make Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

In Walks Ray Barbee

September 25, 2009

r00418001

Ray Barbee is the coolest guy and now, he’s super into photography. I mean not just a little, but hardcore crazy details. Processing times, printing tricks and papers, and so much more. When Ray gets into something, he’s super into it. It was fun to hang out and see him get so into talking about photo!
