CROWNFARMER WEEK 6 – BASEMENT CLOTHING

POSTED November 2, 2009 BY Bob Kronbauer

It is my great pleasure to introduce you to the Gilley brothers! Spencer, Patrick and Blake Gilley are a trio of young brothers who started the tiny t-shirt company, Basement Clothing, out of their parents basement in Vancouver BC Canada a few years back. They silk screen most of their designs themselves and sell to mostly local stores in Vancouver and if you’re lucky to have come across one of their designs in a store there then you are, indeed, lucky. They were kind enough to provide us with the design for this month’s Crownfarmer tee, and it’s a banger! Here’s a brief interview they did with each other a couple of days ago, click HERE to check out their tee…

Spencer: What’s the best thing about owning a little t-shirt company?
Patrick: You can work as hard as you want.
Blake: You get to meet people and you can make whatever you want.

S: And the worst/hardest thing?
B: We have no board meetings.

S: What/who are your guys’ influences. Pick 3 each I guess…
P: Spencer Gilley, Blake Gilley, Michael Jordan.
B: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

S: Do you think its easier or harder to work with your brothers?
P: Easier maybe? Who knows.
B: I like it. We can make shirts whenever.

S: Pat, how long until Blake can beat you up?
P: Never happening, I got too much size on him.

S: What do you think the worst business decision we’ve made so far is?
P: Honestly, I think we’ve been perfect so far, so many possible bad decisions could have been made.
B: Nothing really, it’s been good. Maybe we could have made more shirts.

S: what are you looking forward to in the future?
P: christmas!
B: I think we should buy a where house.
