Fresh stART Tonight!

February 20, 2010

There is a HUGE benefit art show happening tonight in LA.  So many of my favorite artists have contributed treasures to benefit a great organization Para Los Niños.  Para Los Niños is a nonprofit family service
organization designed to bring children from some of Los Angeles’ most challenging communities out
of poverty and onto brighter, more successful futures.   Check out the fresh stART site HERE for more info.  Hope you all are having a bright sunny Saturday.  So nice in Portland today!

Austin’s Artwar Notes

February 19, 2010

Austin was working the Shop today so I shot some photos of his work.

My brains are not home. Please come again.

A lot of Austin’s work is in this little notebook he carrys. Check it out next time you’re in the Shop.

I wish, for one year, that I could trade the math brain I was issued for an art brain.

Pinocchio slammed into a wall and they found his remains years later.

Adam Kearley who takes our product photos for the online Shop is also a talented artist. This is some of his work I found in Austin’s notebook. As I mentioned before, they’ve got different styles.

You Hope Larry Perkins Doesn’t Have Your Number

February 19, 2010

Larry Perkins, Crossbreeder

Sometimes LP has to conceal his identity when making the call because people who’ve been around for a while are wise to LP’s ways. On this call to Mike Maldonado, Larry’s trying to come up on some of Mike’s crossbred dogs with alligators(???), get his Welcome to Hell DVD signed, and maybe crossbreed a Pug.

Larry Perkins on the Horn with Target NYC

LP broke his board at The Berrics and wants a new one from Target so he calls the one in NYC. After Larry tries to get the Target employee to take this broken board back, she turns to her manager and says, “This guy broke his skateboard doin’ tricks n’ $h!t, can he return it?” After a bit of a hassle, LP then gets her to check with the manager to see if back noseblunts are covered under warranty. How is this girl taking him seriously? Of course he tries to get on the Target Team so he can join, “that Lion King lookin’ mutha’ f*#@a on da snowboard.” Listen to the entire call here. Warning, they got potty mouths at Target in New York City.

SUPERbrand Apparel

February 18, 2010

Hi folks. We haven’t made the official market, press release, hyped up launch yet, but you’re all my homies, so wanted to tell you about SUPERbrand Apparel. It’s my new gig and I’m pretty excited about it. First shipments hit shops June 1st, but will be available thru a couple key retailers earlier. And we’re announcing our first team rider on March 1. He’s a ripper and you all know him. Cool, have fun today.

A Skateboard Contest in Tampa

February 16, 2010

We had a little skateboard contest at SPoT last weekend. As you can see, black from head to toe still rules. We call this the “Tampa Kit.” At least these days the Tampa Kits aren’t so tight that they’re looking like surfers in wetsuits…
