Happy Holiday Session

December 24, 2010

When the rain stopped long enough on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, the sub-pump, brooms and towels came-in handy as a break in the weather allowed for a session with Bob Lake in San Francisco at this DIY backyarder.

Shanghai 5

December 23, 2010

Shanghai 5 by Charles Lanceplaine

Charles Lanceplaine captures and documents the emerging Shanghai skate scene in this 23 minute film that is now available online to watch in full not long after its recent premier.

Stephen Khou, one of our skaters recently left London to live out there and makes a nice appearance with a couple of tricks. There’s also interviews with various up and coming skaters and pro’s that live in the city. Shanghai looks like a very sick place indeed, and this documentary is definitely a pleasure to watch and to learn from.

Click the image above to watch and also be sure to check out more Shanghai skateboarding on Legion of Sorts here.

Brian Lotti in The Telegraph Promo

December 22, 2010

Telegraph Skateboards assembled this great promo video of my good friend Brian Lotti and the greenhorns skating some never-before seen spots and doing it in a most inspiring manner. You’ll enjoy the Drummer series, too.

QUATTRO DVD DECKS

December 20, 2010

SPECIAL EDITION QUATTRO DVD DECKS By RICKI BEDENBAUGH

Over the past year Ricki has been filming for QUATTRO, which has just been released. To celebrate the launch of the DVD, Ricki and the team made these rad DVD covers from the boards that were skated by Chad Tim Tim, Darrell Stanton and Levi Brown during the filming of their video parts. The team recycled the decks, and then handcrafted them along with Paul Schmitt to create these special edition Quattro DVD cases. Each of the 35 DVD Decks comes with a letter of authenticity, signed and numbered by the rider.

You can win one of these limited edition Quattro DVD cases at Transworld Skateboarding and Element Skateboards.

Watch the making of here.

More behind the scenes photos here.

Mediocre Magic From The Shallow Bag Of Tricks

December 20, 2010

I’m 100% sure that I have not progressed in my skating prowess for nearly a decade, despite the fact that I love skateboarding now more than ever. Skate sessions are few and far between, but on the occasion when I can remove myself from the workstation and spend some time rolling around, it’s guaranteed that some mediocre magic will go down. In other words, I don’t let the fact that I suck at skating keep me from doing it.

My bag of tricks is pretty shallow these days (and I like it that way), so I can always reach in and find something hazardous to do on my lunch break. Good thing that Jose Garcia Diaz is a skilled photographer and can make my skating look sweeter than bread pudding with chocolate milk.

A SENSE OF ADVENTURE

December 19, 2010

There is something so rad about trading zines for fun. Whenever I get a random envelope in the mail, I feel like I’m five years old all over again; completely excited about receiving something in the mail.

Recently, I put out a call on Club Mumble for anyone interested in a friendly zine swap, and received some awesome emails from some interested punters. Above is an amazing zine I got from William Harvey from Bath, England. It is printed on a heavy card stock and looks and feels amazing. Check out Will’s blog for more of his work here, and I’m sure you will be seeing a lot more of this talented young chap.
