Like skateboards, tee shirts and other things that you can put on your body? Well, if you’re in the LA area on Saturday check this out. Stacks, Heel Bruise and The Quiet Life (their new line is up on their site) are having a BBQ and blow-out sale. Get the goods before they are gone.
With the help of Josh Roberts, Rubbits, Alex Campbell and Skateboarding Australia we have this sweet little puppy all up in the websticle. Incase you don’t know already (and yep you are about to find out) Alex is one of the most gifted skaters in the world right now.
“Everyone has those zones where they feel comfortable. You know those locals where you know the traffic flow, know where the ledge grips, where it slides, where the kinks or cracks are, you even know where to put your rubbish or get a sneaky drink of water. It at is those comfy spots where people can really shine on their boards with the purest skating. To investigate the linkage that we form with these familiar places we have decided to do a little visual survey of where some of Australia’s top skaters feel at home: A total of ‘Three Spots’.
What better a way than to begin this regular than with Alex Campbell? See him regulate Woolstores, manipulate Montreal Street Skatepark and reinterpret the Perth CBD. This was deftly filmed and smoothly cut by the one and only Lord Geldoff (Josh Roberts). If you are a connoisseur of finesse, speed and power then I’m pretty sure this will tickle your fancy.”

I don’t normally work with video, but my friend Justin Clowes and I recently co-directed a music vid for up and coming Philly rapper Zilla Rocca’s new single, Full Spectrum. We shot the whole thing on super 8 film in Asbury Park, NJ, the day after Hurricane Irene blew through town, leaving a few spots without power and more than a couple of trees knocked down. Asbury ‘s a cool town – pinball museum, paranormal museum, the Wonder Bar, good pizza – and provided a pretty cool backdrop for a rag-tag group of misfits running around it’s streets with outdated super 8 film cameras. People were friendly and the towns got a good vibe. Good times, good times. The song features a guest verse by Has-Lo and is taken from his Nights and Weekends EP, which is definitely worth checking out. Hope you dig it

I’m sure you’re all aware of the amazing work Skateistan is doing in Kabul, but some of you may not realise that the organisation branched out into Cambodia earlier this year. I’m now volunteering with the team here in Phnom Penh, along with a couple of other guys and girls, and personally I haven’t had as much fun skateboarding for years.
The recent history of this country is well documented and tragic, but Cambodians are moving forward in incredible ways, especially as the youth become more educated and empowered, and skateboarding is proving to be a hugely positive tool for youth development and social rehabilitation. There’s lots to be done, but there’s loads happening already.
Check some of our projects out here kh.skateistan.org and here facebook… it’s only gonna get bigger and better.
AR4T Gallery is proud to present a vocal and poignant solo show from Los Angeles based artist Corey Smith. Turning his focus from celebrity obsession and obsolete dreams to the unnamed citizen, Smith exposes the soft underbelly of Americana without losing the gloss.
Inspired by get-rich-quick schemes, exercise equipment, absurdity of extreme sports, weight-loss plans, and modern strategies for success and happiness, this collection exhibits Smith’s signature clean and minimalist techniques. “My work is about sharing,” he said last month while preparing the all-new works, which will be showcased all month. “I have a lot of ideas and I need to manifest them as immediately as possible, life is short.”
