First off, I haven’t posted on here in months, and I feel really bad about it. So now I am posting something purely self-promotional… but at least it’s basically the reason I haven’t been around.

My good friend Chris Bettig and myself have an opening this Friday at DDR Projects in Long Beach. I’m flying in from NY to install and be there, so I hope to see some of you!

The show is also sponsored by Threadless, who just released two new Select tee’s (mine / Chris’s) in conjunction with the exhibit. We’ll have a bunch to hand out for free.

Poketo and Islands Fold Pop Up Art Show, “Islands in LA”

Poketo is proud to present “Islands in LA”, an all day pop up art show with the Islands Fold Artist Residency. Islands Fold founders Luke Ramsey and Angela Conley team up with Los Angeles artists Travis Millard, Marco Zamora, Derek Albeck, Joel Speasmaker, and James Gulliver Hancock for a special all day exhibition at the Poketo Studio in downtown Los Angeles.

From a small Canadian island to the sprawling city of Los Angeles, Islands Fold artist residency will join hands with Poketo to set up a whimsical pop up art show titled, “Islands in LA”. This isn’t your average art show where the finished work is all you see. This is an art show in constant motion. Poketo invites you to come and watch artists work together in real time as they transfer art from their mind’s eye to the eyes of the public.

Beginning at 3 pm, all are invited to grab a drink, hang out with the artists, and witness new pieces being created from start to finish to be showcased later that evening. At 6 pm the official party will begin with a release of a special edition Poketo tee shirt featuring a collaborative design by the artists. The spontaneous nature of the show will allow the public to purchase all original art starting at $50, right off the walls to be taken home that evening. Art will continually be in motion as the event will also hold an on-site assembly of handmade zines, each made one of a kind by participating artists. All artists will be in attendance along with Islands Fold founders to answer any questions about their artist residency.
