Penxa’s Rejects

September 2, 2010

mptwiytc_tease

Mark Penxa is one of those guys who you never hear about but has been silently killing it for years. I was able to get him to answer some questions while he was preparing for his upcoming show with Don Pendleton, The Worst is Yet to Come.

From the Archives: Cards

August 16, 2010

Nearly 15 years ago I came across a photo of Cards in the magazine (I think it was Thrasher, but I could be wrong) where he was holding this mourning dove and had a big grin in typical Cardiel style. It was awesome and really stuck out to me so I tried to redraw it back when I was first learning to draw portraits. John Cardiel was one of my favorite skaters then, and he still is today. It’s obvious that this rendition was from my sloppy memory… and for some reason I took the liberty of adding braces to his already well-arranged grill. Maybe I had braces at the time? I’m kind of embarrassed at how I drew him and that I don’t even remember who took the photo but I still think it’s kind of cool.

Studio Lurking at McFetridge’s

July 31, 2010

While gearing up for the One Way or Another tour I stopped by Geoff’s studio to pick up his work for the shows. While he was getting things ready I poked around his stuff and opened his flat files for a peak around.

Only One Wray To Do It

July 16, 2010

dsc_7569

Being deemed “Daniel Harold Sturt”-worthy isn’t exactly the most common thing in skateboarding. But again, with his groundbreaking part in Plan B’s Second Hand Smoke, Jeremy Wray raised as quite the extraordinary pro, from the mid-’90s on. He’s discussing his own favorite pro-models on Memory Screened.

We are very pleased to be able to release our latest boards and tee’s today featuring artwork by L.A based artist Steven Harrington, London illustrator Matthew Green and myself.

Grey Skateboard Magazine - London.

July 5, 2010

picture-48

Grey Magazine have just launched issue one in digital form. While the focus at Grey is to make a quality print magazine, they realise that not everyone can get hold of a copy, particularly those outside the UK. This is why Grey have decided to make the magazine available online roughly one month after the print copies are sent out.

Click here for the online version of the first issue. The print version of the second issue is due out in August.
