We went out to shoot an ad for Filmbot Grip, and well… this is what we got. Whoops.

This weekend represents three years since we yet again learned the dangers of mixing ‘the party’ with ‘the vehicle’. Three years since the passing of the beloved Shane Cross. In honour of this epic human we hold annual “Shred For Shanes” around Australia. The Melbourne jam is in about 15 hours at the legendary Fitzroy Bowl, not too far from where Shane left us back in 2007.
The flyer was whipped up today by Ben McLachlan, we lagged a bit because we couldn’t find out who shot the pic. But I’m pretty sure it was Andrew Mapstone and if it wasn’t it was Remy, (they were both at that session in NYC) and either way we thought it would be OK to use it, as it is for a Shred for Shane right? Below the flyer is a part of the piece from the first ‘Shred for Shane’ painted by the aerosol master known as Dash88.
Shred for Shane wherever you are this weekend.
Life can be a very fleeting thing. Embrace it like Shane did.

Shine on you crazy diamond.
Fitted Hawaii (Rene Matthyssen) and APB Skate Shop (Chad Hiyakumoto), worked together with the Hawaii Bone Marrow Donor Registry and created a “Support Local Skateboarding” pack (hat, a t-shirt and two different-sized decks), all for our brother, Kenny Brimer, who is fighting leukemia.

You can also check-out the Shota Kubo (yes, Shota, son of Shogo) video, filmed by Kenny, when you click on the image below and scroll to bottom of the page.
So Bowl-a-rama weekend went down last week in Bondi beach, and we managed to pull Flat-a-rama off on the Friday night without a hitch. I still can’t believe we got money to put on a game of SKATE with our friends, even though some of Australia’s best current street skaters were involved too. The sponsors were great and the free alcohol was even better. What an awesome weekend. Thanks Chad Ford. Lets make it bigger next year… Oh, and Grosso and Cab absolutely ripped the bowl on Saturday too. amazing!
Finally gave my website, mightyjoecastro.com, an extreme home makeover, complete with lots of new artwork, including the collage-based art print pictured above, which is now for sale over at society6. The site also includes images from a new series of collage based skate graphics I’ve been working on, a few which are for sale over on the artsprojekt site. Anyway, please stop by and have a look when you get a moment. And I finally caved in to pressure and am now posting on twitter as well, so feel free to follow if you’re down with that sort of thing.
Okay, I’m a bit late on this one. But, it’s still really worth watching if you haven’t already (and, then you can get sucked into the other commentaries that are featured).
Anyways, point your mouse here to spend some time with Slap, Strubs and Dan Peterka.

Part 1 of a series of interviews with folks that have worked with and for Andy Jenkins is up on the COLOR Magazine site. More to come over the next days.
