AMBER B “BEHIND THE SEAMS”

January 10, 2012

Here is a “Behind The Seams” video that I shot with my wife, Amber B. In it she walks you through the process of creating the stop-motion animation in the Eden video, piece by piece.

Amber and I co-directed the video, which tells the story of Element Eden. The project was a fun break from skate videos, and an opportunity to work together on something creative. I’m really looking forward to see where Amber takes her new found passion for animation and filmmaking.

ROAD TRIP

January 9, 2012

Kirk and I spent our holidays road tripping down Highway – 1 through Big Sur. It was our third time and I am even more in love with that place after this trip. We saw Otters, Sea lions, Elephant Seals, Harbor Seals, California Condors and the Grey Whales migrating down to Mexico… It really is the Wild West.

Check out more photos from our trip over at amberbcreate.com

EDEN: The Story of Element Eden

December 1, 2011

“Eden: The Story of Element Eden” is a short film that captures the story of Element’s women’s apparel brand, it’s family, Advocate program and vision to inspire girls on their own unique paths.  The film itself was co-directed by my handsome husband Kirk Dianda and myself. Over the course of the last two years we documented all the products and personalities behind the brand.  To string the story along, I created a set of handmade stop-motion animations that not only help tell the story of Eden, but also represent the brand’s quirky personality while detailing creativity and fashion.  Original soundtrack by  the Talented Loren Humphry.

Once upon a time…

November 6, 2011

This is the trailer for “Eden”, a short-film that captures the story of Element’s women’s apparel brand and the family behind it.

I co-directed the film with my husband, Kirk Dianda. Together, we shot and edited the piece over the course of two years, as we documented all the products and personalities behind the brand. To string the story along, I created a set of handmade stop-motion animations, that not only help tell the story of Eden, but also represent the brand’s quirky personality, while detailing creativity and fashion.

Short film launches on December 1st.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

October 19, 2011

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and to celebrate, I created this short film entitled “Happy Halloween”. The bones are hand cut from paper, which is then placed on a black background, and then I shot each frame individually, in the classic stop-start fashion.

Edited by the talented and very handsome Kirk Dianda.

AB COUNTDOWN

August 1, 2011

This is an animated intro I created as an intro for all my film and video projects. The entire animation consists of individual hand-cut pieces of paper, which I then shot individually. The process was time-consuming, but rewarding, as it’s an homage to the original stop-motion cartoons and short-films that we all grew up on.

Post production and editing by Kirk Dianda.

More coming soon!

DWR x KIRK DIANDA

July 11, 2011

Design Within Reach and Coca Cola recently collaborated to make the 111 Navy Chair which is made of 111 recycled plastic Coke bottles. They then chose 111 of the leading architects, designers, and other professionals to test drive the chair, and do an accompanying interview.
Here is the photo I shot of my handsome husband, Kirk Dianda for the collab and click the link here to read his interview.

OC ROAD TRIP (2004)

July 10, 2011

While organizing some old footage and photos, I came across this gem; OC Road Trip (2004).

This is a video I made of  a skatepark tour we made in 2004, as a sort of “Going Away” party, as I was moving across the country to Philadelphia for a year.

Looking back, everyone is half their current weight, including my little brother Tyler, who must’ve only been 11 years old (and still pushing mongo!).

Other notables are, Dylan Radloff (nose-wheelie to nollie 180 front-foot kickflip) who is the Oakley Team Manager and Socialite Extraordinaire, Ira Ingram (noseslide the big hubba) who films and edits most skate videos you see today, Rick Marmolijo (half kickflip to half backfoot heelflip) is the Design Director of éS, and Ryan Marcus (switch 270º kickflip) who is responsible for directing 411VM and creating some of the most kick-ass motion graphics you’ve ever seen.

This is not only the epitome of what skateboarding represents, but also what it creates… Creative, forward thinking individuals.
